Before I helped a couple of guys move this weekend, I took a pilgrimage to Home Depot. I was looking for a hand truck and/or furniture "sled," but I was curious about their truck racks. I don't absolutely neeeeed one, but it might come in handy for some of the odder-shaped items I might move, like mattresses, ladders, or maybe even missiles. (Hey--I made an offer on a house with a missile in the basement, remember?)
After quizzing the usual number of Home Depot employees about the location of certain merchandise, the 37th employee was able to dig up their one and only rack.
"How much?" I asked.
"I'll go check," he said. 45 minutes later he came back and said, "It's your lucky day. This comes up in the system for one cent."
Turns out he was right--I made it all the way through the checkout line and ended up paying just one penny for a rack that goes anywhere from $60 to $245. (It's extremely difficult to find this particular model on the Interwebs.)
So, yay. Sometimes dreams do come true.
