My last post may have given the impression that I think my real estate investment ambitions are on their last swirl down the porcelain poop shoot. On the contrary, nothing could be farther from the truth. Life is good. Oh, I'm worried about our near future, no doubt. I've got what I continually describe as a "ridiculous" mortgage, a baby on the way, and I have lost ALL motivation at my J.O.B. On that last item, I'm seriously beginning to worry--I would almost welcome getting fired.
But thanks in large part to everything I've been learning, I'm more committed to this stuff than ever before. It's not rocket surgery. My dad, who completed two years of electrician school after high school, frequently describes himself as having "no discernable job skills." The guy hasn't had a W-2 job in over 30 years, but his brand-new house on a 10 acre spread is almost paid off (the paint on this thing is still wet), he drives a Corvette (not my first choice), and is part owner in a golf course. He did it all through real estate, albeit not through any of these exotic methods. I was an idiot to pursue anything BUT what he did.
The less-than-tangible benefits of RE investment have been amazing, too. I won't get all touchy-gooey here, but suffice it to say, I'm mentally and emotionally tougher than I've ever been. The other day at church, a guy turned around and checked out my obviously pregnant wife. I was this close to dragging him outside....
...Okay, that's not exactly what I mean. But still, it's good. Life is good. "Intense," lately, but good.
