Blogging was light yesterday because I took a mental health day. Can't say it was entirely voluntary--I woke up, padded off to the bathroom, and spent the next eight hours looking into the mirror repeating "Believe and you will succeed...believe and you will succeed...believe and you will succeed..." Grace told me later that she fed me corn mush and pudding, but it was a messy job. Always looking on the bright side, she thanked me for having my breakdown over the bathroom sink.
Where things stand right now:
1. I've received two calls from my latest mailing. Both potential clients are facing foreclosure within the next two weeks. One is an obvious short sale candidate, but since that, like everything else, is totally new territory for me, we'll see where it goes.
2. The "missile house" I mentioned below somewhere is under contract. The listing agent said it was for "somewhere between $325,000 and $350,000." According to an investor I chatted with about it at Flipping Homes, that's probably far too high. I honestly wish the new investor well, but, good luck...
3. As if I needed any more motivation, we met with a couple of realtors last night at our house. We're exploring the option of putting our place on the market so as to get out from under this outrageous mortgage every month. We told them what we hoped to get, and after they finished laughing half-an-hour later, (I caught up on some pleasure reading during this time--James Lee Burke's "In the Electric Mists with the Confederate Dead), they gave us the good news/bad news. Good news: We could probably expect to get what we wanted for the place. Bad news: Closing costs would bend us over a barrell. So, no listing for now. Perhaps FSBO.
4. God and I shared some "words" yesterday. I will be going to Confession soon. I know it's not His fault things are so tough right now, but when I need to find a scapegoat, I tend to go for whoever's most responsible for things. I went to the top. God also laughed at my case against Him, and urged me to read the Book of Job and C.S. Lewis' "Till We Have Faces" again.
5. I have two upcoming moving gigs. So, I've got that going for me.
6. Contrary to popular belief, cat food doesn't taste so bad.

ah, the ramen years.
I say lose the current crib - it's your albatross.

Crip? Lol.
I'd love to, man, but I owe more than I can get for it. For the time being, I have to find a way to hang on and ride it out. Soon, this place will be a gem. The location is awesome, but we simply can't sell it without ending up upside down.
Sigh.
I'm glad you're a regular here, Jimi. I'd love to hear about yoru adventures in REI. Keep me posted.
Chris
